Exciting changes are on the horizon for the Art Dubai Group, the prominent organizer of the premier commercial art fair in the Gulf region.
The organization has recently appointed two experienced industry professionals to pivotal new roles: Alexie Glass-Kantor is stepping in as the executive director of Curatorial, while Dunja Gottweis will serve as the director of the Art Dubai fair.
Their rich backgrounds in the global art scene reflect the group’s dedication to expanding its influence both locally and internationally.
Commitment to Cultural Exchange
For over twenty years, the Art Dubai Group has been instrumental in nurturing cultural exchange and inspiring creative conversations within the region.
Glass-Kantor, eager to contribute, conveyed her excitement for the opportunity, aiming to amplify the organization’s initiatives, champion artists, and build connections that encourage international dialogue.
Leadership Expertise
Taking on her new role, Glass-Kantor arrives from Artspace in Sydney, where she formerly served as executive director.
She brings a wealth of experience, including notable projects like leading the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and participating in the Encounters section of Art Basel Hong Kong.
Beginning in April, she plans to introduce a calendar of year-round projects designed to enrich the local artistic landscape and promote global connections.
On the other hand, Dunja Gottweis joins the Art Dubai Group with a formidable track record as the global head of gallery relations at Art Basel.
She played a significant part in launching the fairs in Hong Kong and Paris.
At Art Dubai, she will oversee the flagship annual fair, which aims to spotlight galleries and artists from less represented areas.
Working closely with existing leaders such as executive director Benedetta Ghione and artistic director Pablo del Val, Gottweis intends to facilitate a seamless transition as preparations ramp up for the 2026 edition.
Future Growth Objectives
Ben Floyd, the CEO of Art Dubai Group, emphasized the significance of these new appointments in supporting the group’s overarching growth objectives.
He shared his optimistic outlook on the future of Art Dubai and the greater region, highlighting the UAE’s encouraging development trajectory.
Floyd believes that the region will continue to draw interest and enhance its cultural scene, with the Art Dubai Group at the forefront, eager to scout fresh talent to support its expanding initiatives.
